In the movie Fun with Dick and Jane (2005), Dick Harper finds his life turned upside down when the company he works for, Globodyne, goes bankrupt. The CEO and CFO of Globodyne frame Dick as the public face of the disaster, leaving him jobless and without any savings or assets. Along with his wife Jane, they are forced into poverty and struggle to make ends meet.

Desperate for work, Dick searches for any available job, even considering day labor with the relatives of their Mexican nanny. However, their financial situation becomes dire when they receive a foreclosure notice.

Driven to the edge, Dick and Jane resort to a life of blue-collar crime in order to survive. As they begin to find some success in their illegal activities, hope appears to be on the horizon. However, just as things start to improve, news of an impending indictment against them brings them face-to-face with the real criminals behind their misfortune - the white-collar executives at Globodyne.
